oil cooler, how much

does anyone happen to know how much a automatic gearbox oil cooler costs for 760? Tricky for me to contact a dealer and they usually don't know what I mean. Anyone have an idea?

I wouldn't think they'd be that expensive, as it's just a small radiator really - have a look of GSF or eurocarparts. Don't know about the 760, but on the 740 it's an optional extra for caravan towing. The radiator in my 740 has an internal pipe for the transmission fluid, so it's cooled with the engine coolant. If yours has this facility (it may not, if for example a rad from a manual car has been fitted and the oil cooler used instead) you might be able to manage with just that.

Stinky has a B28E in a 7 series. Elsewhere he has posted that the oil cooler has turned to cheese. I think the first thing is to find out whether his B28E had a factory oil cooler as well or in stead of one integrated with the rad. Over to you, V6 man. If B28Es didn't normally have one, then he may get away with removing it and maybe going to a non-canister oil filter with a finned housing. He is in Ascension Island, not sure what the ambient temp is likely to be.

ambient temperature is 30C all year, but I only ever do short runs (the island is only 7 miles long) Car is a UK estate and has had a tow bar fitted at some point in its life. the oil lines run into the combined water/oil rad as well as this small oil cooler. Looks stock but could just be a good job.
